Dental block?

i am going to have a dental block later this week for a procedure...i have never had a cavity before so i don't know what to expect from the painkiller injections. how bad do they hurt?

Dental block?
By "dental block" I assume you mean a nerve conduction block for anesthesia, most commonly a mandibular nerve block for anesthesia of the lower back teeth.

It's a pretty normal injection, somewhat uncomfortable. However, it is generally much less uncomfortable than having the tooth drilled without anesthesia.

If this is the type of injection you are getting, your lower lip and tongue will be numb on that side for a couple of hours. Be careful not to accidentally bite your lip while you are numb. Don't have hot drinks that might burn you without your feeling how hot they are.

You are indeed fortunate that you've never had a cavity before!

Reply:Oh no don´t take the painkiller injection... I never had problems with my teeth and last time they gave my my first painkiller injection before I went there I didn´t had any pain and I had more pain then ever afterwards. The next day I had a broke down because my body didn´t jar with it :(
