what exactly like procedures do you learn about when doing work experience eg root canals, fitting venirs etc do they have like a specific name to the common procedures. i know there are also many more procedures but i need to know on a wider scale a specific procecure i can talk about if asked in my dental interview.
HELP SOMEONE PLEASE:)
What do you learn when you do dentistry/dental work experience?
You are worrying too much, they shouldn't expect you to have too much dental knowledge, you haven't started school yet. When i had my interview, I gave answers to them about cheating that were likely unethical, talked about how dentistry is more about having your patients like you than doing excellent work, etc. Probably not the right answers, but I gave them confidently and honestly, and they appreciate that. They can tell when you are regurgitating BS answers. The interview is more to see that you can talk to someone and aren't a complete social dud. That's all they want to see.
Reply:There are many common procedures.
Root canal or RCT is one. Veneers are another.....if you are interviewing for a dental position it is important to know codes. (RCT being one).
It is also important if applying for an assistant position to know procedures, set up and dental terminology.
There are many schools that can teach you all you need to know and help you find a job.
If you go into the dental field not knowing anything you will make alot less (min. wage) than someone with knowledge and experience (in NJ- $18-$21/ hr.)
Look into schooling. The benefits of previous knowledge will help you find a position quicker.
If you just need a procedure to talk about talk about composite fillings. (white fillings) vs. amalgam fillings (silver)
Dr.'s love to debate the pros and cons. An aesthetic dentist will only use white fillings. Dr.'s who take insurance will most likely use both.
Just ask if they prefer composite or amalgam. Someone with little or no experience who asks that question is almost sure to get the job.
Reply:explain how a dentist does an exam. the dentist listens first, diagnosis the problems, and then comes up with a plan.
it may seem simple but that is where the knowledge comes in.
the interviewer will love the fact that "planning" is important.
