What dental procedure would you reccomend I get for 1 missing tooth?

I want a permanent replacement.. and I just want it to look good lol. I'm only 18

What dental procedure would you reccomend I get for 1 missing tooth?
An implant would be best but they are mighty pricey.

or you could get a ceramic tooth which cost less but might need touch up after years...
Reply:I'm guessing this might be one of your front teeth. Your dentist would best be able to give you a better answer than you will get here. But, if it's not a visible tooth, you will be okay without a replacement. I had a tooth pulled four years ago, and I never even think about it being gone. No problems eating. It's a back tooth, though, and is not seen.
Reply:If the teeth on either side of your missing one are in good shape, perhaps a 1-tooth bridge or an implant. Either is pretty expensive, and only a good AND honest dentist will tell you which is the best for your mouth. If you're kinda lazy about oral hygiene [brushing, flossing, scaling, the lot] the bridge may have to be replaced if the teeth it's wired [or clipped] into start to give out. A lot depends on what the missing tooth did for a living...biter [incisor?] or grinder [molar]. Our son got away with a front 2-tooth "flipper" [hockey player's removable bridge] until he got serious about taking care of his mouth AND started earning enuf bucks to pay for a permanent bridge. A flipper, BTW, can't be used to bite into anything...but it looks great.

Being just 18 you don't want to get a bridge to replace this tooth by ruing 2 other teeth.


If you want to get an interim partial denture, aka a "flipper" while you save up for the implant, that's O.K.


it's not meant to last forever. The implant is the best coice.

Reply:implant provided you are a good candidate for one---meaning you have enough bone to secure one in place.
Reply:You have a few options, you could get a bridge, which would basicly be a fake tooth for the one your missing and then two other fake teeth over the opposing teeth. Or you could get an implant, but it costs alot. You have to pay for the implant, then the surgery, and then you have to pay for a crown to go over the implant. If i were you i'd go with the bridge. It doesn't cost that much money and insuranse will pay part of it. And if feels just like a normal tooth. And you can make some financial payments with your dentist
